charming, delightful community founded in 1787, Wayne County

Equipped With The Essentials
Within Wayne County is the Newark Wayne Community Hospital
(ViaHealth), affiliated with the nationally recognized
heart center at Rochester General Hospital. Many other renowned
hospitals and facilities in nearby Rochester and Syracuse
provide specialty care for those with more unique medical
needs. Notable among them is Strong Memorial Hospital and
the New York State Regional burn trauma center located within
an hour's drive at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse.
Numerous
opportunities for higher education exist within an hour's
drive of Wayne County. Universities and Colleges including
the University of Rochester, Rochester Institute of Technology,
Colgate, Syracuse University, Cornell, Hobart & Williams
Smith Colleges and Keuka College offer a wide variety of programs
close by to Wayne County.

and Entertainment Facilities Abound
Wayne
County offers easy access to many shopping areas, including
a vast regional factory outlet center in Waterloo. We are
also within a 45-minute drive to the Carousel Center in Syracuse
which is currently expanding to become a national supermall
to be renamed Destiny USA.
A brief
drive through the northern part of the County will take you
to the striking beauty of Lake Ontario which attracts thousands
of tourists annually. Incorporating Sodus Bay, its largest
inland bay, Ontario offers an array of sailing, powerboating,
fishing and many other commercial and recreational activities
and events. Not far to the south are the beautiful rolling
hills and wine trails of the Finger Lakes Region, and to the
northeast the Adirondack Mountains offering virtually limitless
outdoor activities.
Several
golf courses in the county are within easy reach as well as
many others nearby. For history buffs, historic Pultneyville
is an old lake port and terminal on the underground railroad
that is well worth visiting. Palmyra is an Erie Canal town
which also features many historical Mormon sites as well as
the Alling Coverlet Museum. Lyons, the county seat, features
many preserved and restored buildings including the county
Court House and the county museum. To take some history home
