Job Development Authority Changes Interest Rates The NYS Job Development Authority (JDA), a fixed asset lender, has changed the interest rates for new loans as of April 1, 2005.

New Economic Development Director Named Margaret "Peg" Churchill has replaced Barbara Harper as Executive Director of the Wayne County Industrial Development Agency and Wayne Economic Development Corporation. Harper retired at the end of July. Churchill has worked as a Senior Planner for Wayne County and serves on the County's Industrial Development Agency Board and the Empire Zone Administrative Board. She is also a former Town of Walworth Supervisor.
County Receives $305,000 Grant To Assist "Main Street" Small Businesses The County has been awarded a Community Development Block Grant administered by the NYS Governor's Office for Small Cities that will allow it to continue its Microenterprise Assistance Program. Assistance will be made available to starting or expanding businesses with five or fewer employees located in the County's "Main Street" or downtown business districts helping to revitalize those areas and make them more economically viable.
Empire Zone Update To date, 60 County businesses have received Certification approval from NYS Empire State Development.These businesses have projected almost $43 million in new capital investment, 471 new full-time jobs, 85 new part-time jobs and 32 new seasonal full-time jobs.
Maco Bag Moves to Former Fold-Pak Facility in Newark Maco Bag, a manufacturer of flexible packaging for imaging, industrial, electronic and military customers has purchased and moved its operations to the former Fold-Pak facility on Van Buren Street in Newark. Some of the reasons cited for the move to Wayne County were the great location, wonderful building, excellent work force and the benefits of the County's Empire Zone. |
